The Plan Chardonnay
Description
The Plan is a unique range of wines that are vibrant and fruit-driven with a spine of elegant acidity. Innovative and of high-quality, The Plan from McGuigan Wines are varietally true with a distinct sense of place. Grapes for The Plan are sourced from top quality vineyards all over South Eastern Australia, including McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek and Barossa Valley. Synonymous with Australian winemaking all over the work, the McGuigan family has been tending vines in the Hunter Valley since 1880.
McGuigan knows the Chardonnay grape’s popularity stems from its versatility. As a variety it takes well to oak or can produced unwooded, fruit-forward styles. This Chardonnay shows elegant stone fruit and a touch of creaminess.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS
A great accompaniment to most food, particularly creamy pasta and succulent roast chicken dishes.
COLOR
Pale yellow to straw.
NOSE
Rich stone fruit and lychee with a touch of fresh citrus are complemented with subtle notes of vanilla and coconut.
PALATE
Soft, smooth and creamy palate with tropical fruit, melon and a touch of vanilla oak.

VINIFICATION
Chardonnay grapes were harvested at night, then crushed and pressed. The resulting juice was then clarified before being fermented in stainless steel tanks using a select yeast strains. Light use of oak gives the wine depth, weight and complexity.
The Plan Shiraz

Australian Shiraz is known for being a wine that is high-quality, distinctly varietal, bountiful wines. This Shiraz is a perfect representation of that style with a plums, a hint of spice and soft tannins.

Pairs well with succulent red meat dishes and tomato-based pastas.

A combination of plum and blackberry with spice, pepper and cinnamon.

VINIFICATION
The fruit for this wine was sourced from our vineyards in South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales. The parcels of fruit were treated individually, fermented and matured, before being blended to create this outstanding wine.
The Plan Cabernet Sauvignon

McGuigan uses diverse winemaking techniques in the production of this wine to give greater depth of flavor and a broader tannin structure. The resulting Cabernet Sauvignon is full-bodied and rich.

VINIFICATION
This approachable, full-flavored wine comes from fruit harvested at night from South Eastern Australia vineyards. After fermentation, the wine was matured in stainless steel tanks and oak prior to final blending.

Hand Made SHIRAZ
Description
McGuigan Hand Made is a hand-crafted, limited edition Shiraz that is the pinnacle of the McGuigan portfolio of wines. Grapes are sourced from low yielding vineyards just outside Langhorne Creek in the outstanding soils and climate of the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. Warm days and relieving evening breezes ensure full ripeness with good acid retention.

Perfect when combined with rich red meats such as slow cooked beef fillet with roasted vegetables.
COLOR
Deep crimson.
NOSE
Initial pepper spice aroma followed by wild fruits and vanilla.
PALATE
A rich full-bodied wine with a wonderful mix of dark cherries, plum and spice – reminiscent of Christmas cake. This powerful wine finishes with delicate savory notes and vanilla.

VINIFICATION
After crushing the fruit was allowed to cold steep for three days in a small open vat. It was then fermented at an average of 22°C for seven days before being pressed off into barrels for malolactic fermentation and maturation. The wine was left in oak for 18 months before being bottled giving a wonderful oak influence.

The Philosophy is the pinnacle of the McGuigan portfolio. A limited-release Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz blend sourced from small parcels of super premium fruit. Cabernet grapes are sourced from the Seven Hills area of Clare Valley, where warm days aid in optimal ripeness and cool nights assist in creating balance. Shiraz fruit comes from the slightly warmer area of Auburn in Clare Valley’s southern edge.

Deep crimson with hints of purple.
NOSE
Lifted aromas of cassis and blackberries with subtle hints of dry herbs.
PALATE
Full-bodied with deep layers of cassis, blueberries and plum. A wine with great depth and lingering concentration held together with velvety tannins.

VINIFICATION
First pressings are fermented in concrete open fermenters before maturing an additional 24 months in new and 12-month old French oak. The wine is then bottled & stored for an additional two years before release.
